Sending to Secondary Insurer with imported claims

  1. Click Billing, then AR Summary

  2. Click on claim and click Open Claim.

  3. Check the adjustment that there is a PR (patient responsibility) for each claim line you are sending. This tells the secondary payer that there are charges to pay.

  4. If there is not PR, then click Add Adjustment. Select Payer, select group code PR and select 2 for coinsurance, then click Save.

  5. Make sure the Claim control number is added. If not, then Click Details next to the Primary Payer to add it:

  6. Get it from the EOB/ERA and add it.

  7. If this is a replacement to the secondary, then change the Claim Filing Code to 7 for commercial insurers.

  8. Also make sure the Claim status is set to Send to 2nd.

  9. Select a batch from the pulldown if one is open.

  10. If no batch is open, click on New batch and type a new batch name and click Create New batch.

  11. Add the Claim to that batch by selecting the batch.

  12. Click Send to send it right away.

  13. If you need to send the claims at the end of day, go to Batch Management and click send to send the batch of claims.
