The provider workflow is primarily centered around three areas: Appointments, Notes, and Tasks. The Provider Dashboard displays all three areas in a concise view and serves as the main starting point for providers. If access to another patient record is required, the provider can click the Find button to search for patients by appointments, encounters, notes, patient lists, or intake forms. Providers can enter information into the clinical note at any time and electronically sign the note once documentation is complete.
The following represents a typical provider workflow, although these steps are flexible and not required to be performed in a fixed order:
-
- Clicking a patient name opens the Patient Dashboard or clinical note for the selected encounter.
- A default form is automatically loaded based on the visit type, facility, and assigned provider.
- Menu templates associated with the form are loaded automatically.
- Nursing staff typically enter vitals, patient history, current medications, and chief complaints. Providers usually review and verify this information during the assessment.
- The chief complaint section is generally reviewed first and dynamically builds the patient complaint narrative.
- A Review of Systems (ROS) is typically completed.
- The physical examination is then documented within the template.
- A diagnosis or preliminary diagnosis is entered. Additional tests may be required before confirming a final diagnosis.
- Prescriptions may be ordered if required.
- Lab tests, imaging studies, procedures, or additional services may be ordered or performed.
- The clinical note is reviewed, edited if necessary, and electronically signed. This can be completed at any stage of documentation.
- The Superbill is reviewed, an appropriate E&M code is selected, and the charges are released for billing by clicking Finalize.
Enabledoc displays a check in the menu next to each template as information is entered and saved. A yellow check appears next to that template name to show that information has been entered. If a red check mark appears next to a template that template has been locked to indicate the information is finalized. This feature makes it easier to know what work
